Stepping it up from Monday’s post about ideal holiday outfits, today’s all about fueling your holiday cheer with a festive champagne cocktail.
BTW: I ALSO updated my GIFT GUIDE today with some of the cutest little last minute gifts EVER.
So, let’s be real, the holidays oftentimes become a true test of patience & perseverance.
Returning to your home, as a young adult, is such a weird situation.
At first it’s all merry/happy/catch-up time. Then, it’s like you never fucking left.
Mental image: sitting in the back seat with your ( mostly adult ) siblings, doing a mixture of joking, making antagonistic comments & getting reprimanded like you’re a tween again.
Like, excuse me, people, I am an adult human being, is the reprimanding really necessary?
Clearly, I’m aware, at 22 years old, that threatening to punch my little brother in the face is “wrong,” but it feels so right. I can’t NOT threaten violence upon my own siblings… it’s basically my job as their older sister.
In summary: a little booze-induced cheer is a necessary component of going home from the holidays, and this poinsettia cocktail is flawless in form & in function.
In other words, it’s pretty & a few of them will get you fucked up.
For this cocktail, you’re going to be combining cranberry juice, champagne, & vodka.
I got a few sprigs of rosemary & some candy canes to garnish my champagne flutes.
You can serve this cocktail chilled or over ice ( or both! )! I chose chilled here, but over-ice is good if you’re short on time or being lazy.
BTW– I adapted this recipe just a tad from Martha Stewart’s recipe!
What You’ll Need
makes 6 servings
3/4 cup Vodka ( chilled )
1 & 1/2 cups Cranberry Juice
3/4 cup Champagne ( chilled )
Crushed Ice ( if over ice! )
Garnishes: Rosemary, Candy Canes, Orange Zest, Etc.
How to Prepare
1. Combine cranberry juice & vodka in a pitcher. Let this chill in the fridge until ready to use.
2. Add champagne to pitcher when ready to drink.
2. Fill champagne flutes with crushed ice ( if over ice ), & pour champagne cocktail!
xx
Not to be confused with a cranberry mimosa, the poinsettia cocktail’s kick of vodka makes everything a bit more interesting.
I’m not a huge fan of the orange flavor most people like in this cocktail, but definitely try it with some orange zest in your glass if you are!
Hope y’all dig this one!
In other news, I’m sitting at the airport, waiting to board my flight for this weekend’s family getaway.
Since Monday’s post, we have switched vacation destinations twice, booked our trip, & started our adventure to…. Cancun!!
Like I said, my family is weird & does this type of last minute thing all the time. On Tuesday, I woke up to a text from my Dad, containing my flight details for Thursday morning ( today ).
Unfortunately, I missed my flight this morning, so, here I am, at LAX, dreaming of sippin’ a pina colada on the beach, waiting for the next flight out to Cancun.
Waking up by the beach tomorrow will make all this airport sitting SO worth it.
